Dr. G. Michael Hess, M.D. is board certified for orthopedic surgery and pain therapy. He graduated from Medical School at the University Dusseldorf in 1995, completed his residency in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and at the Spine Center at Orthopaedische Klinik Muenchen-Harlaching. After a fellowship in spine surgery and interventional radiology at the University Hospital in Quebec City, Canada, he was appointed Head of the Back Pain Center at Orthopaedische Klinik Muenchen-Harlaching in 2001. In 2003 Dr. Hess went into private practice and was consultant at the OCM- Orthopedic Center Muenchen until January 2015 and at Betaklinik Bonn until December 2015, where he was responsible for minimal-invasive spine surgery and interventional pain therapy.
Since January 2016 Dr. Hess serves as medical director at EuroPainClinics and consultant at WIM - Wirbelsaeuleninstitut Muenchen.
He is performing all kind of injection procedures in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. For more than 10 years his main interest is in endoscopic procedures, where he has a broad experience in several techniques and approaches.
Dr. Hess is an internationally renowned expert in the field of minimal-invasive spine surgery and interventional pain therapy. He is lecturer of more than 100 scientific presentations and is invited world wide as guest surgeon.
Dr. Hess is Master Instructor for the Spine Intervention Society (SIS, formerly ISIS) in the US and Europe since 2003. He is also co-organizer of the European SIS workshops in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
From 2006 to 2015 he served as president of the German Interventional Spine Society (GIW e.V.) and is member of the German Spine Society (DWG e.V.). Furthermore he is a member of the British Pain Society’s (BPS) Interventional Pain Medicine Research Group and serves as reviewer for the spine section of “Pain Medicine”.
